The "Bill Sullivan" Tribute Banjo

The “Sullivan” is Recording King’s tribute to the founder of First Quality Music, Bill Sullivan, one of the foremost banjo authorities in the world.

Bill's untimely passing in the fall of 2007 left a hole in the banjo world that will never be filled. In early 2008, Greg Rich and Recording King approached Bill's sons with the idea for a Limited Edition "Bill Sullivan" Recording King Banjo, a tribute to Bill and his legacy to the banjo world. Recording King and First Quality Music are proud to offer the “Bill Sullivan Recording King Tribute Banjo” in a limited edition, hand-numbered run of fifty pieces. Jeff and Eric Sullivan, co-owners of First Quality Music continue their father’s commitment to the banjo community by donating a portion of the proceeds from the sales of the Limited Edition "Bill Sullivan" Recording King banjo to create "Bill's Park," an area beside First Quality Music that will be dedicated to Bill, with benches, trees, and a picking area.

The Sullivan Tribute banjo features hand engraving by designer Greg Rich on the hoop and armrest, and a Scorpion bridge, hand made by Silvio Ferretti. The Mastertone-Style Tone Ring and a 3-Ply Maple rim give this banjo a sound as classic as its namesake.
