Rob McCoury
It’s no secret that bluegrass runs in the McCoury family. As the talented banjo player in the Del McCoury band, Rob McCoury attended his first bluegrass festival at six weeks old.
Rob caught the pickin' bug after seeing the Osborne Brothers at Sunset Park in West Grove, PA. He then realized how fortunate he was to have a great teacher in the house.
Today, Rob plays an early prototype of Recording King’s Osborne Scout, the banjo endorsed by one of his main inspirations, the legendary Sonny Osborne.
He has played the Osborne Scout at the Grand Ole Opry and at shows throughout the U.S.
Rob's first show as a banjo player was a benefit show for Olla Belle Reed in 1987, and he has played banjo with the Del McCoury band ever since.
“I couldn't imagine what my life would be like without music.”
Rob McCoury and the Del McCoury band are regularly on tour. Visit the official Del McCoury Band website for complete dates.
